Interview AND INSPIRATION

Interview AND INSPIRATION

We began with an interview to understand Olivia’s style, preferences, and fashion influences. Afterward, I gathered ideas from Pinterest and other fashion resources to help guide the design process.

SELECTION

Olivia came over to review the fabrics in my collection, and together we selected two: a stretchy athletic-type fabric donated by my sister and a pair of jeans, also donated by her. We felt the two fabrics complemented each other well.

INITIAL FITTING

INITIAL FITTING

We tested the fabrics on Olivia’s body, adjusting and seeing how the materials felt in real-time. This was a hands-on process where we explored different options based on the fit and comfort.

MANNEQUIN

FITTING

To assist with the construction, we decided to use a mannequin for most of the fitting process. The adjustable mannequin allowed me to continue working on the garment when Olivia wasn’t available, ensuring the design stayed aligned with her size and fit.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Using the fabric we selected, I created a halter top with an open back and a tie closure. I added a denim collar neckline and a denim lining that extended to the back tie to secure the garment.

FINAL FITTING

FINAL FITTING

Olivia came over for a final fitting where we made any necessary adjustments to the neckline and fit. The design was then complete, with the finished top reflecting her style and the unique process we used to bring it to life.
